Emerald Spring Cleanup
At Emerald you will get a great spring cleanup done to your property.
We first use backpack blowers to blow out all your rock beds window wells underneath your decks or any obstacles that will hold debris leaves sticks etc.
If there is landscape plants such as hostas daylilies grasses left over from last fall we will remove those as well.
We then blow everything into the lawn and use lawn mowers to bag and remove the debris. We will dump into a pile by the curbline so when we are finished with the job our vacuum trailer will come by and pick it up and haul it off site.
Dethatching is only done if it is necessary to the lawn. 90% of the time a lawn does not need to be dethatched or power rate it will actually do more harm than good if it’s done too aggressively. It will open up the soil to introduce weed seed and give you more weeds in your lawn.
Fall cleanups
In the fall we will blow out all debris sticks leaves etc from underneath decks stairwells window wells any area that collects debris.
Debris will be blown out into the lawn and vacuumed up with our lawn mowers.
During the fall cleanup we also cut back all daylilies and hostas to give you a nice clean landscape for the winter.
We will generally leave any of the tall grasses to give you a little color over the winter season.
All debris will be vacuumed from the lawn put into a pile by the curb and are vacuum trailer will vacuum it up and haul it off site for disposal.
At Emerald all of our organic debris gets spread out into a farmer’s field at the end of the season and is turned into fertilizer for his corn or beans everything is recycled.

Weekly Lawn Maintenance
Each week we will visit your property and do a mowing of the lawn also we will string trim around all edges along with blowing clippings off of all hard surfaces.
If you have a dog and do not want to clean up after it that is also a service we can provide before each mowing.
On a monthly basis we will do it edging of all the hard surface lines up against concrete to give your property a nice clean sharp look.
All of our mowing is done by mulching mowers we do not beg or side discharge in your grass. This recycles the grass clippings back into your lawn for moisture and fertilizer this is the healthiest practice for lawn mowing.

Fertilizer and Weed Control for Your Lawn
At Emerald that we only use liquid fertilizer and weed control for your grass. It does multitude of benefits to your lawn.
The spray stays where we put it it does not get on hard surfaces and run off into waterways or ponds it also is absorbed quickly and more efficiently by the plants.
Our program consists of either four applications or five applications a season. Each application is set up differently to benefit your lawn for the time of year that it is.
Our first application is a pre-emergent for crabgrass and dandelions it also has a slow release nitrogen fertilizer called cornon that lasts up to 6 weeks. At Emerald we focus on the plant health and root growth we do not go after top growth like some companies do. Normally after each application you only see an inch or two of extra growth. Not 6 to 10 in within the first couple weeks. At Emerald it’s like we are putting steaks or chicken on your lawn not sugar in Snickers bars.
Our second application will have weed control and another slow release application of fertilizer The formulation changes slightly. Because of the warmer weather to come and the different time of the season.
Our third application is similar to our second but does not have weed control if we do see weeds we will spot spray them.
Our fourth application is in the fall early September late August. This application will also have weed control and fertilizer at this time we formulate the fertilizer program to start getting the plant ready for the upcoming winter.
And our last application number five is a winter feed to help you the plants make it through the winter and start growing as soon as the frost comes out of the ground in the spring. With this application we also apply a pre-emergent for crabgrass and dandelions for next season.

Lawn Aeration
At Emerald we have three types of lawn aeration first is mechanical aeration. Normally done in the fall September early October. This is where we go around your lawn and poke holes in and pull out cores to dissolve on top of the grass. This is pretty traditional and has been around for many years The benefits are loosening soil for better root growth. The cores on top of the lawn help break down any thatch and cycle the soil around. The holes help water penetration and fertilizer uptake in the plants.
Second type of aeration is a product called c20 soil builder this is a granular normally done in the spring. This application stimulates biological activity 157 * more than compost promotes root health for all types of plants. This product is formulated with a special carbon and nitrogen ratio of 20 to 1. C20 provides the desired performance for turfgrass trees shrubs health and growth
Our third way of aeration is liquid this gets applied normally during your second application so you can have the benefit of the aeration through the season. Liquid aeration is similar effects as the granular. It helps introduce water oxygen and nutrients into your roots along with loosening the soil
Power Edging
That Emerald if you are a weekly lawn care customer we power edge your property once a month.
If you are just interested in this service we can also do your property. This is generally a time and materials type project so charged hourly.
What we do is we take a iron knife on a machine and go along between your grass and your concrete surfaces to cut a nice smooth edge then we remove all of the dirt and sod that was hanging over into the concrete area. Gives it a nice sharp clean look
